Biomass Processing System - ToronBPS™ 300M
Biomass Processing System for Gasification and Co-firing
This Biomass Processing System shreds agricultural and forestry waste down to a fine particle size for gasification and co-firing feedstock applications. Gasification plant operators, power generation facilities running biomass co-firing, and biomass fuel processors use it to convert bulky raw material into fine powder, pellets, or briquettes on one continuous line. Torontech built the system around a dual-shaft shredder, an ultrafine shredder, and a set of optional downstream units for screening, drying, and molding.
Metal chain conveyors or grab feeders deliver biomass into the dual-shaft shredder, where the material is reduced through shearing, tearing, and extrusion. A belt conveyor carries the shredded material to a uniform distributor, which evens out the flow before the material enters the ultrafine shredder. After fine grinding, the material reaches a particle size of 5 mm or finer, suitable for gasification or further processing into pellets.
The line runs continuously with smart operation and maintenance monitoring, and optional units can be added as needed: a trommel screen and magnetic separator for screening and impurity removal, a drying system to reduce moisture content, and a pellet mill with counterflow cooler for pelletizing. This modular configuration lets the output match the feedstock format a given gasification or co-firing process requires, from fine powder to pressed pellets or briquettes.
Biomass Processing System - ToronBPS™ 300M Applications

This Biomass Processing System serves operations that need agricultural or forestry waste reduced to a consistent particle size for thermal or gasification feedstock.
- Gasification Feedstock Preparation: reduces biomass to 5 mm or finer for use in gasification processes producing syngas or other derivative fuels
- Biomass Co-firing at Power Plants: prepares consistent-size biomass for co-firing alongside coal or other primary fuel in power generation boilers
- Agricultural and Forestry Waste Recycling: processes crop residue and forestry byproducts into a usable feedstock format rather than open burning or landfill
- Biomass Pellet and Briquette Production: supplies fine, dried feedstock to a pellet mill for producing biomass pellets or briquettes
- Continuous Biomass Fuel Processing: supports facilities running continuous operation with minimal manual intervention

Biomass Processing System - ToronBPS™ 300M Key Features
This Biomass Processing System combines shredding, screening, drying, and optional pelletizing into a modular, continuously operating line.
- Smart O&M: monitors line operation for continuous, low-intervention running
- Continuous Operation: designed to run as a continuous process rather than batch cycles, supporting steady feedstock output
- Cleaner Production: integrated dust and impurity removal reduce particulate release and improve output purity
- Two-Stage Shredding: a dual-shaft shredder followed by an ultrafine shredder reduces material to 5 mm or finer
- Optional Screening and Impurity Removal: a trommel screen and magnetic separator can be added to remove oversized material and ferrous contamination
- Optional Drying System: reduces feedstock moisture content ahead of pelletizing or gasification use
- Optional Pelletizing with Counter Flow Cooling: a pellet mill and counterflow cooler can be configured to produce cooled, stable biomass pellets or briquettes
Theory and Method

The dual-shaft shredder reduces raw biomass through combined shearing, tearing, and extrusion rather than a single clean cut. Two counter-rotating shafts pull agricultural and forestry waste inward and work it between interlocking cutters, breaking down fibrous and variable-density material without the wrapping or jamming a high-speed single cutter would experience on long fibers or branches.
The ultrafine shredder performs a second reduction stage after the material has been evened out by the uniform distributor, grinding the pre-shredded material down to 5 mm or finer. Working from an already-reduced, evenly fed material stream lets the ultrafine shredder achieve a smaller, more consistent particle size than attempting the full reduction in a single stage.
When the optional pellet mill is configured, it compresses the fine ground material under mechanical pressure through a die, and the counterflow cooler then reduces the temperature of the freshly formed pellets before they are handled or stored. Cooling stabilizes the pellet's structure, since pellets discharged hot from the mill are softer and more prone to breaking apart until they cool and harden.
