Hydraulic Transfer Stretcher (Advanced) — ToronCare™ 1180 A

Hydraulic Transfer Stretcher

ToronCare™ 1180 A is the top-specification hydraulic transfer stretcher in the ToronCare™ range, delivering six fully independent positioning functions — including chair position — through a medical-grade hydraulic system, gas spring, and manual crank combination. Designed for the most demanding clinical environments in U.S. and Canadian hospitals, the ToronCare™ 1180 A provides the functional breadth of a procedure table with the mobility of a hospital stretcher, bridging the gap between stretcher hospital transport and clinical procedure support on a single platform.

The 1180 A provides backrest articulation (0° to 85°), knee gatch (0° to 55°), Trendelenburg / reverse Trendelenburg tilt (0° to 12°), and a chair-position configuration — all adjustable from bilateral controls accessible on both sides of the stretcher. The height range of 885 to 660 mm (bed board to ground) is achieved via a double hydraulic system supplemented by manual crank, with an optional 150 mm castor configuration adjusting the range to 855 to 630 mm for lower-height receiving surfaces.

The radiolucent bed board enables full X-ray imaging on the stretcher in hospital without patient transfer, and two sets of push handles at both the head and foot ends support two-caregiver medical stretcher transport in bariatric, long-distance, or complex patient transport scenarios. At 130 kg, the ToronCare™ 1180 A is a premium, long-service-life hospital emergency stretcher engineered for daily use in high-acuity U.S. and Canadian healthcare settings.

Hydraulic Transfer Stretcher (Advanced) — ToronCare™ 1180 A Applications

  • High-acuity emergency and trauma departments requiring the most complete hydraulic hospital emergency stretcher positioning capability
  • Surgical pre/post-operative patient transport with full Trendelenburg, knee gatch, and chair-position capability on a single hospital stretcher
  • Radiology and interventional procedure suites where X-ray on stretcher eliminates transfer steps
  • Bariatric patient medical stretcher transport requiring two-caregiver push-handle assistance and hydraulic-assisted positioning
  • Recovery and PACU environments where chair position supports post-operative patient comfort during stretcher transport and recovery
  • Examination and consultation workflows where the stretcher hospital bed replaces a separate examination table
  • Facilities standardizing on a single premium hospital stretcher bed platform that handles all stretcher transport and clinical positioning needs

Theory and Method

The ToronCare™ 1180 A uses the same double hydraulic + gas spring + manual crank architecture as the ToronCare™ 1180, with expanded positioning range and the addition of chair-position capability. Height adjustment (885 to 660 mm, bed board to ground) is achieved via hydraulic foot pedals with manual crank backup. An optional 150 mm castor configuration brings the range to 855 to 630 mm.

Backrest articulation (0° to 85°) and knee gatch (0° to 55°) are driven by gas springs — faster and more responsive than hydraulic articulation alone, requiring minimal force to achieve full range of motion. The knee gatch range of 55° is the widest in the ToronCare™ hydraulic series, enabling deep knee flexion positioning for recovery, examination, or procedure support. The chair-position function synchronizes backrest and knee gatch to create a seated posture, enabling patients to be examined, eat, or recover in a near-vertical upper-body position without any patient transfer.

Trendelenburg / reverse Trendelenburg (0° to 12°) is hydraulically driven. Two sets of push handles — at both the head and foot sides of the stretcher — allow two caregivers to share the physical load of stretcher transportation over long distances or on inclined surfaces. Radiolucent bed board construction enables full diagnostic imaging on the stretcher bed in hospital, reducing patient handling in imaging-dependent care pathways.
