Theory and Method
The ToronCare™ 1160 uses a hydraulic system for height adjustment, driven by foot pedals located at both the head and foot sides of the stretcher frame. This dual-pedal positioning ensures that any caregiver can activate height adjustment regardless of which end of the stretcher they are standing at, reducing workflow interruptions during busy stretcher transportation sequences.
Backrest articulation is accomplished via a gas-spring mechanism rather than a separate hydraulic circuit. The gas spring stores mechanical energy that is released in a controlled, smooth motion when the backrest release is activated. This provides fast, proportionally damped backrest raising from 0° to 85°, requiring very little caregiver force and reducing the risk of sudden movement that could disturb the patient.
Trendelenburg and reverse Trendelenburg tilt (0° to 13°) is adjusted by the gas spring system at the head and foot sections.
