Manual Kinematic Viscosity Bath TT-445 conforms to ASTM D445, the Standard Test Method for Kinematic Viscosity of Transparent and Opaque Liquids (and Calculation of Dynamic Viscosity).
Manual Kinematic Viscosity Bath TT-445 is used to test liquid petroleum products, both transparent and opaque, by measuring the time it takes for a volume of liquid to flow under gravity through a calibrated glass capillary viscometer. The dynamic viscosity, η, can be obtained by multiplying the kinematic viscosity, ν, by the density, ρ, of the liquid at a constant temperature. This method covers a range of kinematic viscosities from 0.2 to 300,000 mm²/s at various temperatures.
The primary application of this apparatus is to determine the kinematic viscosity of both transparent and opaque liquid petroleum products, in compliance with the ASTM D445 standard.
It works by measuring the time required for a specific volume of liquid to flow under gravity through a calibrated glass capillary viscometer. The results can also be used to calculate the dynamic viscosity of the liquid.
