Face Mask Differential Pressure Tester

Face Mask Differential Pressure Tester ToronFM™ DPT measures the air exchange pressure of medical face masks and other fabrics.

Standard

  1. ASTM F2100 Standard Specification for Performance of Materials Used in Medical Face Masks
  2. YY 0469 Section 5.7, YY /T0969 Section 5.6
  3. BS EN 14683 Medical face masks - Requirements and test methods, section 5.2.3, Annex C

The Torontech ToronFM™ DPT is a specialized instrument for determining the differential pressure (Delta P) of medical face mask materials, in full compliance with standards like ASTM F2100 and EN 14683. Its primary application is to provide a precise, quantitative measure of a material's breathability. This is a fundamental comfort and performance parameter, directly related to the ease of breathing for the wearer, and is a key criterion for classifying medical masks.

This critical comfort and performance test is a cornerstone of quality and development in:

  • Medical Device Manufacturing: As an essential quality control and lot release test for manufacturers of medical and surgical face masks, providing the definitive data required to certify their products to the required performance levels (e.g., Type I, II, or IIR) based on breathability.
  • Third-Party & Regulatory Testing: For independent laboratories and government agencies to verify that face masks being sold in the market meet the breathability requirements of national and international public health and safety standards.
  • Non-Woven & Filter Media R&D: As a primary research tool for developing new, advanced filter materials, allowing formulators to optimize the balance between high filtration efficiency and low breathing resistance to maximize both protection and user comfort.
  • Hospital & Healthcare Procurement: To perform incoming quality assurance and supplier validation, ensuring that the masks procured for use by healthcare workers provide the necessary level of comfort and breathability for extended wear during long shifts.

  • Powered by a suction air source, offering flexibility in test site locations.
  • Equipped with a high-precision pressure difference sensor for digital display of pressure differences.
  • Features a specialized sample holder to securely grip the sample for accurate testing.
