Theory and Method
Thermoelectric Temperature Control
The ToronCubator™ EH-P operates on a dual-mode thermal control principle, combining resistive heating and compressor-driven refrigeration within a single chamber. A PMMA II microprocessor control system continuously reads the internal temperature sensor and modulates heating or cooling output to maintain the set-point. Temperature resolution is 0.1 °C, with fluctuation held to ±0.7 °C during heating and ±1.0 °C during active cooling cycles.
Frequency-Conversion Refrigeration
The refrigeration circuit uses an imported variable-frequency compressor and the R134a refrigerant — a hydrofluorocarbon with zero ozone depletion potential (ODP = 0). Frequency conversion allows the compressor to modulate its speed in response to real-time thermal load, reducing energy consumption and eliminating the temperature swings typical of fixed-speed systems. The system operates frost-free across the full temperature range, removing the need for periodic defrost cycles.
Multi-Stage Fan Circulation
A 6-stage variable-speed fan circulates conditioned air throughout the chamber to achieve uniform temperature distribution. Users can select fan speed to match the airflow sensitivity of their samples — lower speeds for delicate cultures, higher speeds for rapid temperature equilibration.
