Hospital Bassinet (Newborn) - ToronCare™ 6200

ToronCare™ 6200 newborn hospital bassinet gives maternity wards, newborn nurseries, and postpartum units a safe, mobile resting place for healthy infants. A transparent ABS tub sits on an epoxy-coated steel frame, so nurses and parents can watch the baby from every angle without disturbing sleep. Four braked casters let staff move the bassinet between rooms and lock it in place at the bedside. The design supports routine newborn care, observation, and short in-hospital transport.

Built for rooming-in and bedside care, the ToronCare™ 6200 keeps the newborn within easy reach of the mother and the care team. A gas-spring mechanism tilts the tub up to 12 degrees, a simple way to raise the infant's head for reflux management or added comfort. Smooth, non-porous surfaces wipe down quickly between patients and stand up to routine disinfection. The compact 850 by 510 mm footprint fits tight ward layouts and busy delivery suites.

As a non-electrical, low-maintenance unit, the bassinet suits high-turnover environments where reliability and easy cleaning matter most. Qualitest supplies the ToronCare™ 6200 for hospitals, birthing centers, and clinics that need a practical newborn bassinet ready for daily use.

Hospital Bassinet (Newborn) - ToronCare™ 6200 Applications

The ToronCare™ 6200 newborn hospital bassinet fits a range of clinical settings where healthy infants need a safe, observable, and easily relocated sleeping space.

  • Maternity and Postpartum Wards: holds healthy newborns beside the mother's bed for feeding, observation, and recovery-room care.
  • Newborn Nurseries: provides a clear-sided, mobile cot for grouped infant care and routine monitoring by nursing staff.
  • Labor and Delivery Rooms: keeps the newborn close after birth and moves easily to the recovery area when the mother is transferred.
  • Rooming-In and Mother-Baby Units: supports family-centered care by keeping the infant at the bedside throughout the hospital stay.
  • Neonatal Observation Areas: offers continuous visibility of the infant for stable newborns under routine watch, rather than intensive or critical care.
  • Intra-Hospital Infant Transport: lockable casters allow quiet, controlled movement of the baby between wards, imaging, and treatment rooms.
  • Birthing Centers and Outpatient Clinics: a compact, low-maintenance bassinet for facilities with limited floor space.

  • Single-Handed Gas-Spring Tilt (0° to 12°): raises the head end smoothly for reflux management and comfort, holding the tub steady at the chosen angle.
  • Epoxy-Coated Steel Frame: resists corrosion and repeated disinfection, holding up to the demands of daily hospital use.
  • Four 100 mm Braked Casters: roll quietly between rooms and lock in place for a stable, secure bedside position.
  • Under-Tub Storage Basket: keeps diapers, linens, and care supplies within arm's reach of the bassinet.
  • Compact 850 × 510 mm Footprint: fits beside the mother's bed and moves easily through busy wards and delivery suites.
  • Smooth, Non-Porous Surfaces: wipe down quickly between patients and support infection-control routines.

Theory and Method

A hospital bassinet succeeds or fails on two things: how well caregivers can see the infant and how easily the unit can be kept clean. The ToronCare™ 6200 uses a transparent ABS tub for exactly this reason. ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) is a rigid thermoplastic with high impact strength and good optical clarity, so the tub resists cracking from daily handling while giving an unobstructed view of the baby. Its smooth, non-porous surface gives bacteria few places to settle and tolerates routine wiping with hospital disinfectants.

The tilt feature relies on a sealed gas spring. Compressed nitrogen inside the spring acts on a piston, storing energy that a single handle releases to raise or lower the tub smoothly and hold it at any angle up to 12 degrees. Raising the head end places the infant on a slight incline, using gravity to help reduce milk reflux and ease breathing for some newborns. The damped motion stops the tub from dropping abruptly, so one caregiver can adjust it alone.

Mobility comes from a four-caster base. Each caster swivels for tight turns and locks with a brake, so staff can roll the bassinet through corridors and then fix it firmly at the bedside. The steel frame carries an epoxy powder coating, a baked-on polymer layer that seals the metal against moisture and the repeated chemical exposure of a clinical cleaning routine. This barrier slows corrosion and keeps the frame's surface smooth and wipeable over years of service.
