Hospital Bassinet (Adjustable) - ToronCare™ 6600

ToronCare™ 6600 hospital infant bassinet adjusts to the caregiver, raising and lowering on a single aluminum column to bring the newborn to a comfortable working height. A foot pedal drives the lift across a 910 to 1210 mm range, so nurses set the level without bending or using their hands. The clear, food-grade tub keeps the infant in full view, and a gas-spring tilt adds a head-up incline when needed. A push handle and double-braked casters make the unit easy to move and steady to park.

Built for bedside and rooming-in care, the ToronCare™ 6600 keeps the baby close to the mother while giving staff ergonomic access for feeding, diapering, and checks. The height range lets a seated parent and a standing nurse both reach the infant comfortably, which lowers the strain of repeated lifting. A storage shelf at the base holds linens and supplies, and the column design keeps the footprint compact. The 860 mm tub gives the newborn generous room without enlarging the overall unit.

Foot-pedal height control and gas-spring tilt make the ToronCare™ 6600 a flexible choice for wards that value caregiver comfort and quick repositioning. Qualitest supplies the bassinet for hospitals, maternity centers, and neonatal units that need an adjustable, mobile newborn bed.

Hospital Bassinet (Adjustable) - ToronCare™ 6600 Applications

The ToronCare™ 6600 hospital infant bassinet suits clinical settings where adjustable height and easy mobility improve day-to-day newborn care.

  • Maternity and Postpartum Wards: brings the newborn to a comfortable height at the mother's bedside for feeding and recovery.
  • Newborn Nurseries: adjustable height lets staff work without bending during grouped infant care and monitoring.
  • Labor and Delivery Suites: receives the baby after birth and rolls to the recovery area with the mother.
  • Rooming-In and Mother-Baby Units: lowers for a seated parent and raises for a standing nurse, supporting shared bedside care.
  • Postnatal Examination and Care Stations: foot-pedal height adjustment positions the infant for diapering, dressing, and routine checks.
  • Intra-Hospital Infant Transport: a push handle and fully braked casters allow quiet, controlled movement between rooms.
  • Neonatal Observation Areas: clear visibility for stable newborns under routine monitoring, rather than intensive care.

Hospital Bassinet (Adjustable) - ToronCare™ 6600 Key Features

The ToronCare™ 6600 focuses on adjustability and caregiver comfort in a compact, mobile design.

  • Foot-Pedal Height Adjustment (910 to 1210 mm): raises and lowers the bed hands-free to bring the infant to a comfortable working height for any caregiver.
  • Gas-Spring Tilt (0° to 12°): sets a head-up incline for reflux management and comfort, holding the tub steady at the chosen angle.
  • Aluminum Alloy Column: keeps the unit light and easy to maneuver while supporting the lift mechanism.
  • Clear Food-Grade PS Tub: gives a non-toxic, easy-clean basin with full visibility of the newborn from any side.
  • Push Armrest Handle: lets one person steer the bassinet smoothly through corridors and doorways.
  • Double-Braked Casters (Φ60 mm): roll quietly and lock fully for a secure, stable bedside position.
  • Base Storage Shelf: holds linens and care supplies within reach beneath the bed.

Theory and Method

The ToronCare™ 6600 is built around one idea: the bassinet should move to the caregiver, not the other way around. Repeated bending over a fixed-height cot loads the lower back, a common source of strain for nurses who lift and reposition infants many times a shift. Raising the tub to elbow height keeps the caregiver upright and brings the work into a neutral posture. The foot pedal drives this height change hands-free, so staff adjust the level while holding the baby or supplies.

Two mechanisms handle movement. A sealed gas spring controls the tilt: compressed nitrogen acts on a piston that the operator releases to set a head-up incline up to 12 degrees and hold it steady, which uses gravity to help reduce milk reflux. The lift works through a foot-operated mechanism built into the aluminum column, raising and lowering the bed across a 300 mm range without electrical power. Both systems damp their motion, so the tub never drops abruptly and stays where the caregiver sets it.

The infant rests in a tub molded from food-grade polystyrene (PS), a rigid, lightweight plastic chosen for the same reasons food containers use it: it is non-toxic, holds a clear finish, and wipes clean without absorbing fluids. Four double-sided casters carry the base, each with a full brake that locks both the wheel and its swivel for a firm, stable park. The aluminum column keeps the whole unit light enough to push with one hand on the armrest.
