Theory and Method
The ToronFT™ BBC assesses bed blanket flame retardancy by exposing the surface of a test specimen to a standardized flame generated within the enclosed stainless steel test chamber. The flame height is measured and set to the required value using the integrated flame measurement ruler, accurate to 1mm.
A controlled burning period is applied to the specimen surface, after which the flame is removed and the afterburning duration is recorded. The resulting burning, damage, and discoloration of the standard test paper placed beneath the specimen are evaluated against ASTM D4151 criteria. The precise digital timer — with burning timing from 0 to 99.99 seconds (resolution 0.01s) and afterburning timing from 0 to 99.99 seconds (resolution 0.1s) — ensures high measurement accuracy throughout the bed blanket test cycle.
