Leakage Tendencies of Automotive Wheel Bearing Greases
Leakage Tendencies of Automotive Wheel Bearing Greases TT-1263
Leakage Tendencies of Automotive Wheel Bearing Greases TT-1263 conforms to the ASTM D1263 Standard Test Method for Leakage Tendencies of Automotive Wheel Bearing Greases.
This apparatus is utilized for evaluating the leakage tendencies of wheel bearing greases under prescribed laboratory conditions. It operates at a high speed of 660 RPM under elevated temperature conditions. During the experiment, lost grease is collected and weighed for analysis.
The Torontech TT-1263 is used to perform the ASTM D1263 test, a critical evaluation of a grease's ability to resist leakage from a wheel bearing at high speed and elevated temperatures. By simulating the severe conditions of a vehicle hub, this apparatus provides a direct measure of a lubricant's retention properties, which is essential for predicting its real-world performance and ensuring long-term component protection.
This leakage tendency analysis is fundamental for the qualification and quality control of greases in:
- Automotive Manufacturing (OEM): Validating greases for new vehicle production to ensure they meet stringent performance standards for durability and long service intervals without leakage-related failures.
- Heavy-Duty & Commercial Vehicles: Qualifying robust greases for truck, bus, and trailer wheel hubs that operate under higher loads and generate more heat, making grease retention a critical safety factor.
- Aftermarket & Performance Parts: Certifying the performance of aftermarket greases to guarantee they provide reliable, long-lasting lubrication for replacement bearings and high-performance racing applications.
- Lubricant Development & R&D: Serving as a benchmark test for formulating new greases with improved thermal stability and retention characteristics for next-generation automotive applications.
- Digital display temperature control with insulation liner, adjustable from room temperature to 130°C ± 1.5°C.
- PID control ensures rapid and stable temperature adjustment, allowing precise temperature control.
- Stainless steel case with a corrosion-resistant polyimide enamel coating.
- Comprised of an enhanced front wheel bearing, 1/3HP drive motor, and constant temperature chamber. The V-belt drive maintains a constant temperature of 104°C or other specified temperature while rotating at 660 RPM. Equipped with an overheat control safety protection system.
