Coplanar Double Notch Cutter for Pipes and Plastics - ToronNotch™-Coplanar
ASTM F 1473, ISO16770, ISO 9854
Coplanar Double Notch Cutter for Pipes and Plastics ToronNotch™-Coplanar is designed to create double notches in ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene test specimens. It is used in conjunction with a 50J pipe Charpy impact tester to determine the double-notched Charpy impact strength of ToronNotch-Coplanar molded materials.
This cutter is also suitable for preparing notches in FNCT and PENT specimens.
Plastic Pipe Manufacturers & Extrusion Plants - Used to prepare standardized double-notched specimens for Charpy impact testing, FNCT, and PENT evaluation to ensure product durability and compliance with ASTM F1473, ISO 16770, and ISO 9854.
Research & Testing Laboratories - Essential for producing high-precision test specimens for material characterization, fracture mechanics studies, and validation of polyethylene performance.
Quality Assurance & Certification Agencies - Provides reliable specimen preparation for third-party verification, certification audits, and compliance testing against international standards.
Gas & Water Distribution Industry - Applied in testing polyethylene pipes used in pressurized gas and water networks to verify resistance to crack initiation and slow crack growth.
Construction & Infrastructure Projects - Supports compliance testing of pipes and plastics for sewage, drainage, and utility applications where long-term reliability is critical.
Universities & Technical Institutes - Serves as a training and research tool for teaching impact testing, crack growth resistance, and standardized specimen preparation methods.
Failure Analysis & Maintenance Centers - Enables preparation of precise notched samples for forensic investigation of pipe failures, material defects, and long-term degradation.
Coplanar Double Notch Cutter for Pipes and Plastics Features
- Enables simultaneous preparation of both sides of the coplanar notch in a single operation.
- A precision-engineered structure ensures perfect alignment between the notches and the specimen’s centerline.
- An electronic micrometer measures notch depth, ensuring high accuracy and consistent remaining width across specimens.
- Dual-blade cutting with synchronized motion applies equal force to both sides, minimizing radial deformation.
- The blade experiences only axial force, significantly extending its service life.
